Regional Head of Sales

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking an experienced Regional Head of Sales on behalf of our client in the short-term insurance industry, based in Centurion, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and growing the regional sales portfolio, driving profitable premium growth, strengthening broker and client relationships, and leading a high-performing sales team. This role requires a commercially astute sales leader with strong short-term insurance industry experience, sound underwriting knowledge and the ability to deliver sustainable business growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and regulatory compliance. Drive profitable premium growth and achieve regional sales targets in line with approved budgets and business objectives. Lead, develop, coach and performance-manage regional sales teams to maximise productivity and business growth. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and strategic business partners to increase market share and client retention. Ensure underwriting quality and adherence to the company's risk appetite, authority levels and governance requirements. Monitor and manage regional profitability through effective loss ratio and portfolio management. Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles and POPIA obligations. Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance and operational teams to optimise service delivery and customer outcomes. Analyse regional performance trends and implement strategic initiatives to improve business results and customer satisfaction. Requirements Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Insurance or a related field. RE5 FAIS-compliant qualification. Minimum 8 years' experience in the short-term insurance industry. Minimum 5 years' experience in a sales leadership, regional management or business development role. Strong broker/intermediary relationship management experience. Understanding of short-term insurance products, underwriting principles and risk management. Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including FAIS, POPIA and TCF. Valid driver's licence. Own a reliable and roadworthy vehicle. Willingness to travel within the region.
