The company improves industrial plant performance through advanced process control and process optimisation. Our work targets measurable improvements in stability, throughput, energy use, yield, quality, and asset utilisation. The sale sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, finance, and organisational change.
The company is seeking a rare individual who combines the judgement of a senior engineer, the credibility of a plant insider, and the commercial instinct of an elite enterprise seller. The primary mandate is simple: grow the customer base in the United States by winning high-quality new customers in continuous-process industries, with an initial emphasis on chemical manufacturing, cement, and pulp and paper. This person will own U.S. customer acquisition from first access to signed order. They must create credible entry into the right accounts, identify problems worth solving, build the value case, direct the sales process, and secure commitment on terms that work for the business. We are looking for one of the very small number of people who can build this customer base with technical credibility, commercial quality, and minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Create access by using trusted relationships, referrals, and intelligent outreach to secure meetings with the appropriate stakeholders.
- →Clarify the plant's operating problem, financial consequence, decision process, competing priorities, and definition of success during discovery.
- →Translate engineering into value by connecting process behaviour and control improvements to commercial outcomes like production, energy, yield, quality, reliability, and risk.
- →Build and navigate stakeholder maps across plant operations, engineering, process control, maintenance, management, corporate specialists, finance, procurement, and executive sponsors.
- →Protect the opportunity by reaching out to people who can shape, sponsor, or advance the decision, while avoiding stakeholders who lack authority or context.
- →Involve the technical team at the right time with a clear purpose and defined outcome, rather than involving them prematurely or relying on them for direction.
- →Convert every meaningful interaction into an agreed next step, owner, and date to control momentum.
- →Resolve objections and complexity regarding budgets, shutdown windows, technical scepticism, internal approvals, procurement, and legal review without sacrificing trust.
- →Lead proposal delivery and negotiation through to a signed order on the right terms, protecting scope, economics, and delivery feasibility.
- →Hand over cleanly to the delivery team, transferring commitments, customer context, the value case, stakeholder expectations, and commercial obligations.
- →Maintain decision-grade records, keeping account maps, opportunity notes, actions, forecasts, and risks strictly accurate.
- →Feed market intelligence, objections, competitor insight, and process improvements back into the company's offering and sales approach to improve the system.
Requirements
~2 min read- A formal qualification in electrical, electronic, or chemical engineering, combined with a career that includes industrial technical work and personal responsibility for winning business.
- Deep industrial fluency to discuss continuous-process operations, DCS and PLC environments, regulatory and advanced control, constraints, variability, and plant economics.
- A proven complex-sales record with repeated personal wins in high-value technical services, automation, optimisation, or consulting.
- An existing trust-based network in relevant process industries within the U.S. market, strong enough to create credible conversations inside priority accounts within the first 30 days.
- The ability to personally convert unfamiliar or lightly connected accounts into new customers.
- The capacity for full-cycle ownership, moving independently from account selection to order.
- Plant-floor-to-boardroom presence, capable of earning respect from operators and communicating credibly to executive or financial audiences.
- Sharp stakeholder judgement to accurately read influence, incentives, politics, and decision rights.
- Strong commercial judgement to understand when to push, reframe, escalate, wait, or walk away without discounting or making impossible delivery promises.
- Exceptional communication skills to listen precisely, ask incisive questions, and distil ambiguity into a clear problem and next action.
- Autonomy and pace to create momentum without constant direction and remain composed under pressure.
- Strict operating discipline, ensuring accurate forecasting, rigorous follow-up, and clean records are habitual.
- High integrity to build trust through candour, keep commitments, protect confidential information, and accurately represent the company's capabilities.
- Legally authorised to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship, based in the U.S., and willing to travel frequently for in-person customer engagement.
