Why You’ll Love Working Here

Our pioneering technology fortifies staple grains in African mills, reaching over 70 million people daily. Our solution is more than a product; it’s a mission of saving lives. You will be part of a passionate, mission-driven team committed to transforming health outcomes across Africa. We foster a high-performance work environment where career development is supported, and employee wellbeing is a priority.  Our guarantee is that you will find a culture that makes you want to show up every day!

What is Expected of You

As our Business Development Manager, you’ll drive the expansion of Sanku’s miller network across Uganda. You’ll apply strong commercial acumen to build lasting relationships with millers as customers and business partners, communicate the value of fortification, support miller compliance and achieve sales and retention KPIs. You’ll combine practical field support with effective stakeholder engagement to deliver solutions that improve lives and advance Sanku’s mission.

How You’ll Deliver Impact

  1. Identify and prospect new miller customers, understand their business needs and commercial priorities, and build lasting customer and business partnerships that support uptake and retention.
  2. Develop and execute strategic sales plans, communicate Sanku’s commercial value proposition and negotiate within approved terms to achieve targets and expand the customer base.
  3. Train millers on fortification practices and compliance, and support basic Dosifier (dosing-machine) installation, first-line troubleshooting and minor repairs within training, approved procedures and safety requirements. Escalate complex or unresolved faults to the appropriate technical team and follow up on resolution.
  4. Coordinate with Government Relations, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to support partnerships and ensure timely product delivery.
  5. Engage government officials, regulators and other public-sector stakeholders to build constructive relationships and support fortification priorities. Coordinate policy engagement, advocacy and stakeholder influencing with Government Relations, in line with Sanku’s approved positions, ethical standards and applicable requirements.
  6. Collect and analyze data through interviews, surveys, and regular field visits to inform market intelligence and identify trends.
  7. Monitor sales performance, competitor activity, and market conditions; prepare reports and provide insights for growth and improvement.
  8. Run pilot projects, support new business opportunities, and perform additional duties as assigned, including regular travel to field locations.

What We Are Looking For

  1. 4+ years of relevant work experience in Business Development or Sales in Food Processing, Agriculture, Fortification or related fields.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or any related field.
  3. Experience managing sales/setting sales strategies, specifically for rural and peri-urban markets.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute data-driven business plans, translate strategy into actionable goals and drive efficiency with diverse stakeholders.
  5. Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand millers’ business needs, communicate customer value, negotiate effectively and develop sustainable commercial relationships.
  6. Practical technical aptitude to learn and support basic dosifier installation, first-line troubleshooting and minor repairs, with sound judgement on safety and when to escalate to technical specialists.
  7. Ability to engage government officials, regulators and other public-sector stakeholders professionally, and support advocacy and stakeholder influencing in coordination with Government Relations.
  8. Ability to drive a manual-transmission vehicle safely and hold, or qualify for and obtain before undertaking driving duties, a valid driving license appropriate for the vehicle and recognized in Uganda.
