About the Role

Nium is seeking a Director - Business Development to drive new client acquisition and revenue growth across our payment products, services, and customer segments in the Americas.

You will identify, develop, and close new business with fintechs, financial institutions, platforms, and enterprises, matching client needs with Nium’s capabilities across cross-border payouts, card issuing, and stablecoin-enabled payments.

This is a hands-on, revenue-generating role with ownership of the full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery through negotiation, launch, and expansion. Deep expertise in digital assets, blockchain, and stablecoins is an important focus area within this broader commercial mandate. You will use that expertise to develop opportunities in the digital asset ecosystem while pursuing relevant business across Nium’s other solutions and customer segments.

Candidates with a demonstrated record of broader commercial leadership and strategic account ownership may be considered at the Senior Director level.
  • Win new business: Build and execute a sales strategy across Nium’s payment solutions and customer segments, with accountability for revenue growth and new client acquisition.
  • Develop a targeted pipeline: Identify and engage high-potential fintechs, financial institutions, platforms, and enterprises, including digital asset companies with relevant payment needs.
  • Own the full sales cycle: Lead prospecting, discovery, solution development, commercial proposals, negotiation, and closing.
  • Sell around client needs: Understand prospects’ payment flows, operational challenges, and growth priorities to identify opportunities across cross-border payouts, card issuing, stablecoin-enabled payments, and other relevant Nium capabilities.
  • Build senior relationships: Establish credibility with founders, executives, and decision-makers across payments, treasury, product, and operations.
  • Partner on complex solutions: Work with Solutions Partners, Product, Compliance, Legal, and implementation teams to develop commercially viable solutions and assess delivery requirements.
  • Drive successful launches: Maintain commercial ownership through implementation, helping resolve blockers and supporting client activation and transaction growth.
  • Shape the market approach: Bring client feedback, competitive insights, and emerging use cases into Nium’s product positioning and go-to-market strategy, including opportunities in digital assets and blockchain.
  • Maintain commercial discipline: Keep accurate pipeline records, forecasts, and account plans, communicating progress and risks clearly to leadership.
  • Represent Nium: Build industry relationships through relevant events, networks, and direct engagement across payments, financial services, and the digital asset ecosystem.
  • 8+ years of experience in business development or enterprise sales within payments, fintech, or financial services, with a proven record of winning new business.
  • Deep commercial experience in digital assets, blockchain, or stablecoins, with a practical understanding of their application to payments and settlement.
  • Demonstrated success owning revenue targets and closing complex B2B deals involving multiple stakeholders.
  • An established network of relevant buyers and industry contacts, including within the digital asset ecosystem, with the ability to build new relationships across customer segments.
  • A strong understanding of cross-border payment flows and the ability to identify client needs across multiple payment products and use cases.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and build a business case around client needs, economics, and operational outcomes.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience working through commercial, legal, compliance, and implementation requirements.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to coordinate internal stakeholders while maintaining momentum with clients.
  • Strong judgment, resilience, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.
  • Experience selling across multiple payment solutions, including cross-border payouts, card issuing, API-based payment infrastructure, or embedded financial services.
  • Familiarity with fiat-to-digital asset payment flows, on/off-ramp infrastructure, treasury use cases, or cross-border settlement.
  • Experience working with regulated financial institutions and navigating compliance considerations in the sales process.
  • Experience developing a new market segment or taking an emerging payment solution to market.
  • At the Senior Director level, we expect demonstrated experience defining and executing a commercial strategy for a market or customer segment, winning large strategic accounts, and building executive relationships that generate sustained revenue growth.
