Job Overview
Qualcomm Government Technologies (QGov) is focused on transforming U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Government capabilities by leveraging Qualcomm’s world‑class commercial wireless, cellular, and connectivity platforms. QGov works directly with DoD customers and across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) ecosystem—including large systems integrators, OEMs, ISVs, and non‑traditional defense partners—to adapt and deploy advanced commercial technologies at scale and at commercial pace in support of national security missions.
The Senior Manager, Business Development – US Army will be a senior individual contributor responsible for identifying, shaping, and capturing new business opportunities within the U.S. Army and related defense agencies. This role requires deep familiarity with US Army acquisition processes, strong technical fluency in electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO), cellular communications and tactical radio systems, and the ability to bridge operational military needs with advanced commercial technology solutions.
The ideal candidate is mission‑driven, technically credible, an excellent teammate, and comfortable operating at the intersection of government customers, engineering teams, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead business development activities across assigned US Army accounts and defense ecosystem partners, with emphasis on opportunity identification, capture strategy, and customer engagement.
* Develop and execute business acquisition strategies aligned with DoD requirements, programs of record, and emerging operational needs.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with U.S. Government customers, program offices, and Defense Industrial Base partners.
* Translate military and government operational requirements into viable technical and commercial solutions leveraging Qualcomm technologies.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, product management, customer engineering, contracts, and finance to shape proposals, statements of work, and capture plans.
* End-to-end support of customer demonstrations, technical evaluations, pilots, and proof‑of‑concept activities related to cellular communications, defense tactical radio applications, and EMSO.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and government priorities to inform strategic planning and pipeline development.
* Represent QGov at relevant government, defense, and industry forums as required.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, computer science, physics, or related field) or equivalent technical work experience.
* Demonstrated experience in US Army acquisition activities, including familiarity with DoD procurement processes, contracting mechanisms, and customer engagement models.
* Proven experience working with or supporting cellular communications technologies, defense tactical radio systems, and electromagnetic spectrum operations capabilities.
* Ability to engage credibly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including government customers and internal engineering teams.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience supporting proposals, briefings, and customer presentations.
* U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred / Strongly Desired Qualifications
* MBA or advanced business degree strongly desired.
* Prior military service (active duty or reserve) strongly desired, with understanding of operational and mission‑level requirements; specific experience in electromagnetic spectrum operations or new technology integrations a plus.
* Experience working within or alongside the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), including system integrators, OEMs, or government laboratories.
* Familiarity with DoD communications, networking, C5ISR, and/or CPE ISW‑related programs and mission areas.
* Operational experience with a focus on transceivers and unmanned system enablement and implementation in contested environments.
* TS/SCI Clearance within the last 24 months.
Ideal Candidate Traits
* Mission‑oriented and motivated by supporting national defense and warfighter outcomes.
* Technically curious with the ability to quickly understand complex systems and architectures, and communicate their value to key stakeholders.
* Self‑starter who can operate independently while collaborating effectively in a matrixed organization.
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity and influencing without authority.
* Willing and able to travel in support of experimentation and DoD exercise events, operating in field environments.
