HOURS OF WORK: This is a paid part-time position for 20 hours per week. The position starts May 1st, 2026 and ends April 30th, 2027
REMUNERATION: 17.50/hr

ABOUT
The Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) is an incorporated non-profit with the objectives of:
- acting as the official representative organization of Dalhousie students;
- serving as the medium of communication between Dalhousie students and the governing bodies of the University;
- encouraging Dalhousie students to have an awareness of their responsibilities in the local, provincial, national, and international community;
- providing services and programming that enhance student life in a financially, socially, and environmentally responsible manner.
With over 20,000 members, the DSU is here to make sure students get the most out of their experience at Dalhousie. The DSU advocates for student rights, builds community on campus through events, supports over 250 societies, and provides discount services!
OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
The DSU Graduate Office's mandate is to support graduate students, advocating for their needs, and providing relevant administrative support, programming, and resources.
The Graduate Office Manager will act as the primary point of contact for:
- Review and approve graduate society audits, ensuring that money is being spent appropriately and highlighting areas of concern to the VPFO
- Review and approve grants and bursaries available to the graduate societies and graduate students
- Assist graduate societies navigate funding options, or questions about the audit process in a timely manner
- Oversee the Graduate Lounge space
- Hire and supervise a Graduate Office Programming Coordinator
- In collaboration with the Programming Coordinator, develop events and programming geared toward Graduate students
- Engage graduate students to gather feedback for areas of improvement or general concerns, via the use of;
- Polling, outreach campaigns, coordination with graduate societies and student leadership (among others)
- Regular reporting to the VPFO and other stakeholders on the needs of graduate students, and any areas requiring dedicated advocacy work
- Maintain office hours, ensure office and lounge are kept clean and organized to a high standard, and e-mails are responded to in a timely manner
- Any other tasks as assigned by the VPFO
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be self-directed and can work independently
● Possess excellent teamwork skills and can work cooperatively with others
● Interest and drive to work towards a more inclusive and intersectional sustainability movement
within the Dalhousie community
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● Previous experience in managerial roles, auditing & budgeting an asset - Previous experience researching, reporting on, and/or drafting policy targeted at improving governance structures or alleviating stakeholder concerns is an asset
