Responsibilities
· Monitors:
-The performance of each managed vessel
- If the designated Fleet is operated efficiently and as per:
o Flag and statutory requirements
o Company’s guidelines
· Be aware of critical operation deficiencies, if any, and ensures implementation of company’s SMS
· Ensures the awareness for all seagoing staff of the need to operate the vessels to the highest standards consistent with:
- International and National legislation
- Safety, in a manner which is conscious of the environmental protection need
· Appoints ship agents for necessary services as regards with the vessel’s employment
· Enters into the relevant contracts for each vessel as required in co-ordination with the Purchasing
· Interfaces with agents and port authorities
· Utilizes port time effectively by coordinating with all internal and external parties
· Ensures that customer’s requirements and expectations are understood and met enhancing overall relations through daily contacts.
· Handling of STS screening process and assessment in compliance with company’s established procedures
· Submission of the applicable vetting questionnaires whenever required
· Screens, confirms accuracy of FDAs and maintain required entries into the company’s accounting software
· Monitors status of stevedore damages sustained by Fleet vessels
· Handling of all husbandry agency matters, quotations, appointment, Disbursement Accounts
· Keeps records for all of them in coordination with assigned superintendent
· Co-operates with the Crew department, and cargo handling / operation in a safe and cost-effective way always according to:
- Our SMS
- ISO
- ISPS
- International requirements
· In case of his absence, transfer of his responsibilities shall be passed to the FM. A brief up-date is necessary to his deputy for all pending matters on each of his assigned vessels
· Monitors vessels transit through High Risk Areas or areas outside INL limits
· Liaises with Scorpio Insurance for additional premiums/coverage
· Ensures local trading requirements are observed
- i.e. SPRO coverage, AGM certificates, ECRC Canada, etc
· Maintain records for Vessel port movements & cargoes
· During the absence of the Marine Superintendent monitors, in coordination with fleet staff, the progress of the vessels’ planned fabric maintenance ensuring vessels’ physical appearance up to Company’s standards
Qualifications/Experience
· At least Captain Class B License or a University Degree in Shipping or minimum 1-year experience in a similar office position
- Previous sea experience on tankers will be preferable
· Good command of English language and knowledge in computers/software
· Good communication and negotiation abilities
· Capable to monitor and stay abreast of:
- Development in changing legislation and international requirements
- Other development in the Marine industry
Attending training courses and seminar as needed
