Our client is a Massachusetts-based pharmacy providing specialized in-home medication management services for patients with complex medication needs.
The company supports elderly, disabled, and medically complex patients by helping organize prescriptions, coordinate medication schedules, and improve medication adherence through ongoing support and medication management services.
About the Role
~1 min readWe are looking for a Healthcare Sales & Referral Specialist to build and manage relationships with healthcare providers and medical offices throughout Massachusetts.
This is a consultative sales and business development role focused on generating patient referrals through healthcare professionals. You will prospect remotely, conduct outbound calls, identify decision-makers, nurture relationships, and communicate the value of the company's medication management services.
The role will also coordinate with a local representative in Massachusetts who can handle physical marketing drop-offs at targeted medical practices.
The primary goal is to build a predictable referral pipeline and generate at least 10 new patient referrals per month after the initial 90-day ramp-up period.
Responsibilities

- Conduct outbound calls to introduce the company's services.
- Identify decision-makers and referral influencers within healthcare organizations.
- Build relationships with physicians, nurses, practice managers, care coordinators, and other healthcare professionals.
- Explain how the company's services support patients with complex medication needs.
- Develop qualified referral relationships that generate new patients.
- Maintain consistent prospecting and follow-up activity.
- Understand the needs and priorities of different healthcare stakeholders.
- Adapt messaging based on who you are speaking with.
- Communicate the company's value proposition without relying solely on a scripted approach.
- Address questions and objections professionally.
- Build credibility and trust with healthcare professionals.
- Develop long-term relationships with medical offices and referral sources.
- Maintain consistent communication with prospects and active referral partners.
- Help practices understand when and how to refer appropriate patients.
- Identify barriers to referrals and work with leadership to address them.
- Re-engage previously contacted practices and nurture opportunities.
- Coordinate with a Massachusetts-based local representative handling physical marketing activities.
- Identify practices that should receive marketing materials or relationship-building gifts.
- Coordinate deliveries such as flyers, informational materials, donuts, or gift baskets.
- Follow up with practices after physical marketing activities.
- Use local marketing activities to support the broader sales process.
- Maintain accurate records of calls, conversations, prospects, follow-ups, and referral opportunities.
- Keep prospect information organized and up to date.
- Manage follow-up schedules and ensure opportunities do not fall through the cracks.
- Track prospects from initial outreach through referral.
- Provide leadership with visibility into pipeline activity and results.
- Continuously improve messaging and prospecting strategies.
- Previous professional experience in healthcare or a closely related industry.
- Experience in healthcare sales, business development, patient services, pharmacy, medical practices, or a related field.
- Strong outbound sales and prospecting experience.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability to communicate confidently with U.S.-based healthcare professionals.
- Strong relationship-building and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of results.
- Strong organizational and pipeline management skills.
- Comfortable working U.S. Eastern Time hours.
- Ability to understand healthcare terminology and professional workflows.
- Professional Spanish fluency.
- Experience selling directly to medical offices, physicians, pharmacies, or healthcare organizations.
- Experience generating healthcare referrals.
- Pharmacy or medication-management experience.
- Experience selling healthcare services.
- Experience working with U.S.-based healthcare companies.
- Experience coordinating remote sales efforts with local field representatives.

During the first 90 days, the successful candidate will learn the company's services, target market, messaging, and referral process while building their initial prospect pipeline.
After the ramp-up period, the primary KPI will be:
Minimum of 10 new patient referrals per month.
Additional success indicators include consistent outbound activity, meaningful conversations with healthcare professionals, active referral relationships, strong follow-up, and measurable growth in new patient acquisition.
