The Business Development Manager (BDM), Strategic Accounts is responsible for driving advisor engagement, activation, and passenger growth within Tauck’s most important strategic partnerships. Working closely with Strategic National Account Managers, this role develops relationships with travel advisors, branch managers, franchise owners, and agency leadership across a portfolio of strategic accounts.
The BDM serves as Tauck’s primary field-based advisor engagement specialist, focused on increasing advisor awareness, education, and sales activity. Through education programs, events, business planning, and relationship development, the BDM identifies opportunities to grow passenger volume, acquire new-to-Tauck advisors, and increase market share within strategic accounts.
Success in this role is measured by advisor activation, First Time Traveler (FTT) growth, passenger production, and overall contribution to strategic account growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Advisor Acquisition & Activation
- Identify, recruit, and activate new advisors within assigned strategic accounts.
- Develop relationships with advisors who are not currently selling Tauck or have significant growth potential.
- Increase advisor participation in Tauck sales, marketing, and educational programs.
- Support company objectives related to First Time Traveler (FTT) acquisition and passenger growth.
Advisor Education & Training
- Deliver engaging virtual and in-person training programs, workshops, presentations, and coaching sessions.
- Educate advisors on Tauck's products, sales strategies, and brand differentiators to increase confidence and booking conversion.
- Increase advisor participation in Tauck educational programs and ongoing learning opportunities.
- Ensure advisors understand Tauck's full portfolio, including new products, brands, and strategic growth initiatives.
Strategic Account Growth Support
- Partner closely with Strategic National Account Managers to execute account growth plans.
- Execute advisor engagement and activation initiatives that support annual account business plans and growth objectives.
- Provide field intelligence and advisor feedback to support account strategy development.
Event & Market Development
- Represent Tauck at industry events, conferences, trade shows, roadshows, Tauck Academies, and partner meetings.
- Plan and execute advisor-facing events that generate new sales opportunities.
- Leverage company-sponsored programs and events to deepen advisor engagement and drive measurable results.
- Support key partner events and strategic growth initiatives.
Relationship Management
- Build trusted relationships with advisors, franchise owners, agency managers and agency leadership.
- Maintain regular communication with key advisors and growth-focused partners.
- Serve as a visible and accessible Tauck representative within assigned accounts.
- Coach advisors to identify sales opportunities, build confidence selling Tauck, and grow their business.
- Identify emerging trends, advisor needs, and competitive threats.
Business Planning & Reporting
- Track advisor activity, engagement, and growth opportunities through CRM and reporting tools.
- Measure advisor engagement, training participation, sales performance, and activation metrics to identify opportunities and improve future initiatives.
- Collaborate with Strategic NAMs to prioritize opportunities and allocate resources effectively.
Maintain accurate records of sales activity, account engagement, and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of sales, business development or account management experience.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence sales outcomes.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and working independently.
- Experience delivering sales training, educational programs, coaching, or advisor development initiatives.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
