The Associate, Business Development is a member of DAI’s Clients and Technical Practices (CTP) department, supporting the achievement of the company’s annual new business targets, DAI competitiveness, and business development efficiency. This is a junior-level professional position.
This is a one-year fixed-term opportunity. It is anticipated that this role will have a hybrid work schedule, with 3 days working in DAI’s London office and two days working remotely.
Responsibilities
~2 min readCore responsibilities across all DAI client segments (on average 2 days/week):
- →Daily checks of procurement portals and procurement aggregation websites (i.e. DevelopmentAid.org) for a list of DAI current and prospective clients, appraising opportunities against key pre-determined criteria to assess suitability for DAI.
- →Coordinating the distribution of procurement documents throughout the company
- →Support the client and technical practices (CTP) department by providing administrative, operational, and logistical support, including matters such as 1) administering the weekly approval process and meeting, 2) generating billing codes for approved opportunities, 3) processing external consultant paperwork, and other similar tasks
- →Assisting in updating and quality assuring data on DAI’s opportunity tracker
- →Support the SVP, CTP by regularly updating and tracking data to produce, analyze, and summarize new business reports
Responsibilities will also include dedicated support to DAI’s UK client team and Governance sector technical practice (on average 3 days a week), including but not limited to:
- →Day-to-day management of 1) UK client opportunities and 2) governance sector technical opportunities (across clients) in DAI trackers and reporting systems
- →Supporting submission of UK client and governance sector technical opportunities to the weekly approval processes.
- →Managing resource partner and technical network trackers and engagement
- →Supporting specific UK and/or governance sector opportunities, through bid coordination, technical research support, recruitment support
- →Identifying upstream opportunities through direct engagement and engaging with networks within and outside DAI.
- →Supporting engagement with select clients – including monitoring strategic developments, developing client strategies and planning structured engagement.
- →Managing DAI’s day-to-day relationship with selected external engagement platforms.
- →Conducting and supporting technical research and horizon scanning on governance trends and diversification efforts
- →Supporting internal communities of practice and other learning and knowledge management efforts/events.
Qualifications:
- One year of relevant administrative or professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong administrative, analytical and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
- Flexibility to adjust to changes in demands, new situations, or approaches.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and tailor communication style to diverse audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative, respectful relationships with colleagues and external clients at all levels and from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Willingness to adjust work schedule as needed to support teams located in different time zones/countries.
Nice to Have
