The Task Force Director of Sales is responsible for driving topline performance, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, group production, account penetration, and overall revenue growth. This position will lead day-to-day hotel sales efforts, execute sales strategies, support revenue optimization, and prepare the property for long-term success under a permanent Director of Sales or sales leader.
Hotel assignments are not permanent. Length of assignment will vary based on business need, property complexity, leadership transition timing, and performance objectives. This role requires extensive travel and the ability to quickly assess hotel needs, build relationships, execute priorities, and provide clear communication to hotel and corporate leadership.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Perform all standard Director of Sales responsibilities for assigned hotels, supporting the transition to a permanent sales leader as needed.
- →Provide temporary leadership and oversight of the hotel sales function, including direct sales, account management, lead response, sales administration, reporting, and team coaching.
- →Develop, recommend, implement, and manage sales strategies to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, group and catering revenue, and overall hotel profitability.
- →Coordinate sales efforts across group, transient, negotiated, local accounts, and catering to maximize revenue opportunities.
- →Conduct proactive outside sales calls, client appointments, site tours, sales blitzes, and customer entertainment to generate business.
- →Identify, qualify, solicit, and secure new business opportunities across appropriate market segments.
- →Maintain and grow repeat business through strong account relationships, client satisfaction, and customer loyalty.
- →Monitor production of top accounts, evaluate market trends, and recommend strategies to improve share, rate, and profitability.
- →Maintain market awareness, including competitor activity, demand generators, local events, and revenue opportunities.
- →Understand and negotiate sales contracts in alignment with hotel, company, and owner objectives.
- →Partner with Revenue Management, Operations, Digital Strategy, and other internal teams to align sales activity with hotel revenue strategy.
- →Communicate upcoming group needs, VIP clients, meeting functions, and key business activity to hotel operations teams.
- →Support the development and execution of annual sales, marketing, advertising, public relations, and business plans.
- →Manage sales activity and initiatives within approved plans, budgets, and company standards.
- →Train and coach hotel team members to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.
- →Develop a working knowledge of hotel operations and policies, including Sales, Food and Beverage, Front Office, Reservations, and Revenue Management.
- →Maintain visibility within the local market, business community, and relevant industry organizations.
- →Attend or conduct required meetings with hotel and corporate leadership.
- →Provide regular communication and detailed weekly updates to the General Manager, Regional Vice President of Sales, and other corporate leaders regarding priorities, progress, risks, and results.
- →Maintain professional relationships and open communication with hotel leadership, corporate teams, ownership representatives, brand partners, and other stakeholders.
- →Support hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance feedback for hotel sales team members as needed.
- →Ensure adherence to Crestline Hotels & Resorts standards, policies, sales processes, reporting expectations, and performance metrics.
- →Serve as a professional representative of Crestline Hotels & Resorts at assigned hotels, client meetings, industry events, and internal meetings.
- →Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, professional appearance, and compliance with company standards.
- →Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
~1 min read- This position requires extensive travel, up to 90% based on business need.
- Assignments may require weekly travel and extended stays at assigned hotels.
- The Task Force Director of Sales is expected to be present on the property as needed to effectively support the hotel, with assignment length and schedule determined by business requirements.
- Flexibility is required to support hotels in various markets, brands, and operating environments.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive hotel sales experience, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hotel sales, marketing, revenue management, and hospitality operations, with branded hotel experience highly desirable.
- Proven ability to drive sales activity, build relationships, and improve revenue performance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; able to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems; able to analyze market trends and work with financial data.
- Demonstrated adaptability, professionalism under pressure, and ability to coach and support team members.
