Jimdo started in 2007 when three school friends built a website builder in a Northern German farmhouse to help everyone build a presence online. Today, we're a profitable, remote-first company with 220+ people from 50+ nationalities working across 15+ countries. We've helped build over 36 million websites to get online across the world.

At the heart of Jimdo is a strong belief in personalized, data-driven guidance. Our platform combines design, business tools, and an AI-powered core that turns real customer data into clear insights and next steps helping our customers focus on what moves their business forward.
This role exists to build on the strong design foundation already in place at Jimdo and help evolve it further as the company scales, changes focus to a multiproduct platform, and our AI capabilities mature.
As Head of Design, you will lead and develop our Product Design function, with a focus on simplicity, usability, and customer outcomes for solopreneurs and micro-businesses. You will ensure design is deeply embedded in how we understand customer problems, shape product strategy, and deliver coherent experiences across the customer lifecycle working closely with our VP of Product & Design on building out this vision.
A defining aspect of the role is advancing how AI is used within design, not to replace craft or judgment, but to remove low-value iteration, increase leverage, and allow designers to focus on higher-impact work leading to customer success.
Set clear design direction that raises the quality, clarity, and consistency of product experiences, grounded in the needs of solopreneurs and micro-businesses.
Ensure design is a strong partner in problem definition, shaping product strategy—not just executing solutions.
Lead the evolution of AI-enabled design practices to increase speed, reduce low-value iteration, and improve outcomes without compromising craft.
Own and evolve the design system in close partnership with Product and Engineering, balancing consistency, scalability, and innovation.
Take a holistic view of the end-to-end customer experience across product touchpoints and the broader lifecycle.
Partner closely with Marketing and Brand to ensure alignment across product experience, content, narrative, and visual language.
Lead, coach, and grow a senior Product Design team, fostering a culture of quality, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering leadership to support effective discovery, prioritisation, and execution.
Senior leadership experience building and scaling high-performing product design teams.
A strong point of view on simplicity, usability, and user-centered design.
Demonstrated ability to evolve design systems and experience quality at scale across the full customer journey.
Practical experience integrating AI into design workflows to improve speed and outcomes.
Deep empathy for small businesses, solopreneurs, or similarly constrained customer segments.
Comfort operating across product, brand, content, and lifecycle design.
Strong collaboration skills and a systems-thinking mindset.
High standards, clear taste, and the ability to raise the bar without creating friction.
Experience in optimising for conversion while not detracting from usability.
