Purpose of the Role:

As a Test Station Design Co-op, you will work as a member of Svante’s test station and small pilots development team to design, assemble, and commission test rigs for a variety of engineering projects. You will support the development of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment and instrumentation selection, engineering calculations, bench testing, and commissioning activities. This hands-on role will also involve troubleshooting test station performance, developing engineering documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support the successful testing and development of Svante’s carbon capture technologies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience using mechanical tools with an interest in assembling, commissioning, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical test equipment.
• Experience with engineering and productivity software including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio.
• Experience using SolidWorks or Creo for 3D mechanical design and/or AutoCAD for engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hands-on engineering environment.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

• Support the design, assembly, and commissioning of test rigs and small pilot systems while ensuring designs meet project and testing requirements.
• Create and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and support the selection of appropriate instrumentation, equipment, and components.
• Develop bench tests and test plans to validate engineering calculations, including calculations related to heat transfer, flow rates, and gas composition.
• Troubleshoot test station start-up, shutdown, and operating performance issues, identifying and implementing practical solutions.
• Produce accurate engineering documentation, commissioning and testing materials, operation and maintenance documentation, and technical reports to support successful project execution.
