Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is seeking a Middle School Library Administrative Assistant t begin as soon as possible. This is a 12-month position.
The Middle School Library Assistant supports the daily operations of the Middle School Library, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and organized environment for students and faculty. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, enjoys working with middle school-aged students, and can balance administrative tasks, physical material management, and student supervision.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage the daily circulation of books and other library materials. Shelve materials accurately according to the library's classification system and perform routine inventory checks to maintain collection integrity.
- →Use library management software to maintain accurate circulation records, tracking overdue notices and lost or damaged materials.
- →Process new books, adding labels, barcodes, and covers as needed
- →Repair damaged library materials
- →Order and maintain library and office supplies.
- →Uphold library policies and procedures as related to circulation and use of space
- →Assist students and faculty in locating and using library resources.
- →Supervise and effectively redirect middle school students in the library to maintain a productive environment. Supervise parent and student volunteers.
- →Support the construction and implementation of interactive, engaging library displays and assist with library programming.
- →Troubleshoot minor technology issues.
- →Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
- →Communicate clearly and professionally with all members of the Brentwood School community
- →Enjoy working with middle school students. Engage and support students of varied identities, lifestyles, and beliefs.
- →Engage in professional and personal development with a consistent commitment to growth
- →Participate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one's growth, knowledge, and skills
- →Perform additional duties as requested, participate in the overall life of the school, and take on other duties as assigned by the Librarian or Senior Administrative Team.
- Experience with library management software, or a demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately learn new technology systems

Requirements

- Physical Stamina: Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 20 lbs. to handle, shelve, and move book boxes and library materials. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5pm, excluding holidays. Hourly position
While being vaccinated for COVID-19 is not required, it is strongly recommended.
COMPENSATION: Brentwood School's employment requirements vary, from positions requiring no experience to those needing 20+ years of expert experience. Our salary range includes all levels of experience, from $50,000 - $60,000. Salaries are determined based on years of experience, education, full- or part-time status, the category of the role, and the number of months of worked per school year. Salary ranges do not include benefits, i.e. 403b retirement matching, paid lunchtime, free breakfast and lunch, free parking, subsidy toward medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, and generous time off. The pay range is an estimate and is not guaranteed. If hired, your actual base salary will be determined by your education, experience, and category.
