GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group focuses on the military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, laser and weapons systems, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Group supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation as well as a range of commercial customers.

Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of activities in support of functional areas such as quality, material control, and material planning, for one or more project/business/technical units.  Following detailed instructions on new assignments, this position will perform manual and clerical tasks to track and coordinate flow of information relative to Quality Assurance activities such as compiling inspection data, non-conformance initiation and tracking, data entry, WIP tracking, and personnel records.

Maintains, processes, reviews, and compiles a variety of confidential and sensitive electronic and hard copy reports, records,  timelines, tables, correspondence, and presentations, which require tact and discretion in handling.  Provides data and information requiring some explanation or interpretation. Primary contacts are within the department with occasional contact with management and representatives of outside organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates with various departments to support inspection documentation.
  • Gathers, collects, records, tracks, verifies data and information from multiple sources.
  • Assists with data entry, compilation of inspection data, coordination of report corrections & revisions.
  • Identifies, reports, and assists in investigating material traceability issues and discrepancies on the shop floor.
  • Initiates non-conformance records, coordinates & tracks tasking assignments, and ensure proper closure and documentation.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information and updates a variety of confidential and sensitive electronic and/or hard copy reports and records.
  • Responds to routine verbal and written requests for information from internal sources.
  • Prepares requested electronic and hard copy reports, and presentations.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of experience in a field related to the specialized functional area or unit where assigned.
  • Must demonstrate a broad understanding of assigned functional area principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Must possess:
    • the ability to grasp new concepts quickly;
    • the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information;
    • experience in quality, production, and/or material control;
    • strong organization skills and the ability to establish priorities;
    • the ability to identify issues and solve routine problems;
    • good analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report;
    • full knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required
